FINALLY I OWN ONE!!

Yes, its true. I took on the wedding of Brandi Waite to earn all the money for my brand new Canon EOS 40D digital camera (body only). She is getting married in March. But we shot bridals and engagements last weekend. I got paid for the wedding early. I am not currently shooting weddings because of Evelyn, however this was my only ticket to get my camera. I am lucky I get to use it for her wedding day. So today I
1.) Received my check in the mail. 2.) Drove to the bank and deposited it. 3.)Came home and ordered it online. What an exciting day it has been:) Considering I have wanted this camera for about a year. But, knew we couldn't afford it for a long time. Everywhere I looked the body only was for $1200 at least. However, I found this one website that priced it for $480!! Brand new and free shipping!! What?? How can that be? It was a miracle for me. Thanks to a great bargain I will soon be holding my new camera in my hand!! Yeah Baby;)
UPDATE: First I found a camera for $580 free shipping at lensesnmore.com. Ordered it and then found another one for cheaper $480 free shipping on soniccamera.com. Then I cancelled my first order and made a second order with the sonic. Then I check my blog and see the comment that Brittany Marshall left and I am freaking out. That didn't even occur to me. So I get back on my computer and am looking at both websites. Lensesnmore had imported cameras, so I was glad I had cancelled with them. Then I thought I better check soniccamera.com everything looked fine there. Decided to check my email and sonic said they are out of stock of my camera. So, I wanted to call and see what was up. This is a lot of money here, and I was really annoyed. I was told they were all sold out of my camera and that it has to ship from another country. Plus it didn't even come in its own box with a battery or anything. Scammers, they failed to mention any of that on their website..GRRR!! Not to mention both times I called to cancel my first order with lensesnmore.com and ask what was up with the soniccamera.com both the males I talked to were complete jerks who didn't care at all about me, or good customer service. Both websites were located in NY. So, then I started really searching for a website I could trust. I got an 800 number to call the Canon company and ask some questions. Another male answered...whats with the males today...ha ha. He was actually nice though. He told me that all of their cameras are made in Japan/Asia and if the website includes a USA warranty and the box with everything in it. It is most likely safe to order from. So, I got on another website that Trent and I felt good about. The price is more than we initially wanted to pay, but I want to make sure I am getting the real deal!! I tried to order it and it said that the security of the website was bad or something. So, I will be calling them tomorrow to see what that's all about..So still cameraless. Wish me luck that I can actually get a decent, honest company to give me this camera...AHHH the FRUSTRATION.....
UPDATE: I found another website that looked really promising and ordered once again...payed $30 for 3 day shipping. They left me an email and said I had to call them to verify my order. Again another MALE answered and talked to me for a while asking what battery I wanted blah blah blah...and pretty much they also lied on their website and it didn't come with all they said. Then he says he had to check my shipping...so I wait and wait. He gets back on, I couldn't believe it...he tells me we are currently out to that camera you ordered. Ya...they all say that. So, right away I cancelled. Threw my phone and wanted to cry. What a nightmare this has been. I didn't really know where to turn I just knew that I was not going to get taken by another website that looked promising but wasn't. I ordered my last camera from eBay so, I soon got on. Found a guy in Canada selling a brand new canon 40D it showed everything that was included the box....in a photo. Trent and I looked it over. Once again I felt good about it. But, it really reassured me that I could see everything. There is a USA warranty for a year. It ended up costing $812.00 so about $300 dollars more than we were expecting. But, I think that's a good sign. So, for now I wait until I receive it. Wish me luck!! I will keep you posted:)

Wow, congrats. I hope you're getting the real deal. When my hubby was buying our 40D he too found a website that was priced way lower than everybody else. Everything looked legit, but he worried that it was too good to be true. We ended up calling Canon directly and they said that technically it had Canon's name on it, but is was gray market out of Asia somewhere and the body materials were different. They recommended that we buy from an approved retailer. You might check, just in case. Of course, this was before the 50D so it's possible that retailers are trying to move past inventory now and you scored a great deal on the real thing.

Tara, you have to be careful! Jeremiah almost ordered a video camera online (because it was a really good deal) well, after doing some research, he found out they only send you the case of a video camera, the shell, with nadda video equipment in it. That's why it was so cheap. So, if you find it for way cheaper . . . beware.
Love ya.

thank heavens for brittany.
we love her anyway.

that is awful though.
honest people don't suspect scam artists... we only get taken advantage of by them.

hang in there...
you deserve that camera.
